#Beirut Channel Rules

First, it is important to understand that channel rules are set for the channel's own survival and successful continuation. Without them an atmosphere of total chaos would reign and #Beirut DALnet would quickly become nothing more than a playground for lamers. While it's true that most rules are set by the SOps in coordination with the founder they still apply to everyone. Including the people who set them. As a final reminder, please remember that those rules are set to make the channel a better place for our users. You are therefore urged to stick to them at ALL times. Following is a set of channel rules you should observe at all times.

AOp Rules

1) Offensive Nicknames:
The use of offensive nicknames will cause you the loss of your AOp. The definition of offensive/unallowed nicknames is at the SOp's discretion.

2) Bans:
- You can only remove your own bans.
- You should never remove other operator (people and bots) or server bans.
- It is forbidden to clear the ban list (meaning to remove all bans).
- Unbanning by ChanServ is not allowed. You can always find the banned ip and manually remove it.
- Never ban another operator.

3) Kicks:
- Always use a valid and clear kick reason specifying the cause for your kick. Kick reasons such as, but not limited to, lines like please drive through or get lost will lead to your immediate deopping.
- Never kick another operator.

4) Deopping Other Operators:
Never deop another operator even if he/she is away, It’s the Sop’s job to do so.

5) Channel Modes:
Do not modify channel modes, the bots take care of them in case of floods, do not remove modes (+M,+m,+R) set by bots.

6) Fights:
You should never fight/argue with another operator on the main channel window. In case of conflict, always talk to that operator in private or, in the extreme case, report the situation to an SOp.

7) Channel Presence:
Always be present on the channel whenever you are on DALnet.

8) Channel Activity:

You as an AOp should try to be active on the main as much as possible, this is essential to keep the channel alive and active.

9) Op Notice:
Op notice should only be used for serious channel matters. It is not used to talk to another AOp. If you want to talk to him/her you can always do that in private.

10) Voicing Users:
the +v user flag is reserved for active users (by active users we mean people who have typed many lines on the main). It is not a favor for friends or a way to show off your op. A user should always be devoiced after being inactive for 10 or more minutes. You can devoice an inactive user even if you weren't the one who voiced him.

11) Sharing Nicknames:
Nickname(s) sharing will not be tolerated under any circumstance. If you are ever caught sharing your nickname(s) with any other user/operator you will be permanently removed from #Beirut's operators list.

12) psyBNC sharing:

Your are not allowed to use a psyBNC if you’re not the owner of the shell account, even if it’s for someone you trust. Failing to abide to this rule results in an immediate deletion of your AOp.

13) DALnet Services Status:
Never op anyone when services are down/lagging. Even if you are sure of his/her real identity. Same applies to voicing: You should never voice users when services are down/lagging.

14) Away Status:
Always deop when you are away for more than 5 minutes unless services are down/lagging.

15) Auto-reop Feature:
Please disable the auto-reop feature of your script especially when you are away.
